Cafe Culture Pinotage 2009 - $22.99

Wine of Origin: Western Cape, South Africa..
Wine description: Pinotage with a distinct mocha character. This rich and juicy Pinotage has concentrated ripe fruit and mocha flavours. Deliciously ripe Pinotage grapes have been persuaded to show an often hidden mocha flavour – nothing is added and nothing is taken away.
Vintage conditions: Severe warm weather experienced during January resulted in an earlier than usual start to the harvest. These conditions lasted well into the second week of February and lead to rapidly rising sugar levels. From February 8 temperatures declined and subsequently the sugars dropped and harvesting of white and red grapes slowed considerably. Due to the cooler conditions sugar levels increased very slowly whilst grape flavours developed noticeably. The ripening conditions were close to perfect for the tail-end of the crop
Harvest date: First half of February
Food suggestions: Enjoy this wine on its own or as an accompaniment to meat and pasta dishes as well as chocolate and berry desserts.
